The two teams last played on the 28th of June, 2019, in the ICC Cricket World Cup, at Riverside Ground, England. South Africa won the contest comprehensively by 9 wickets. Before that, Sri Lanka toured South Africa for a long series, where they had success in the test format but was beaten in both the ODIs and T20 internationals. The last time both teams faced off in a two-game test series, it resulted in a 2-nil victory for Sri Lanka.

First Experience for Quinton de Kock as a Test Captain

Being one of the most important players in the South African lineup, Kagiso Rabada is the fast-bowling leader in the side. South Africa will be more than happy to have him in the team, by the time the second test match begins.
