Multan Sultans Team History
As we mentioned earlier, the Multan Sultans franchise did not exist before the third season of the Pakistan Super League. There were only the five initial teams before the edition of 2018 until Multan Sultans was introduced.
The starting season for the team from Multan was not what they expected it to be. They ended the group stage at the fifth spot, just above the Lahore Qalandars, and could not make it to the playoffs. The next season, it was the same story. Again, Lahore finished the group stage at the last spot and Multan was at the fifth one. So, as can be noted, they were not performing up to their potential in the starting seasons. However, the last season was a bit of a turnaround for them.
In the last edition of the Pakistan Super League, Multan Sultans topped the group stage with 14 points. They were merciless when it came to either batting, bowling, or fielding. Shan Masood did a good job captaining the side and played a big role in their group stage success. Unfortunately, afterward, everything went downhill. Multan lost the first qualifier against Karachi Kings in the super over, whereas Lahore Qalandars defeated them in the second eliminator.
The last edition had a heartbreaking exit for Multan, but they will hope so that this edition be the one where they go all the way.
