RR Team History

Rajasthan Royals were the first-ever champions of the Indian Premier League. They won the very first edition of the tournament back in 2008. The opponents in the final were the Chennai Super Kings, but Rajasthan Royals came out on top and took the trophy home.

Unfortunately, afterward, it has only been downhill for the team from Rajasthan. They have failed to qualify for the final in any of the other seasons after the inaugural one, and have qualified for the playoffs only thrice.

In the 2009 edition, they finished at the 3^rd last spot, I.E., at the sixth position. One year later, they were at the 2nd last. The same two positions repeated for the next two years. RR finished at the 6^th spot in 2011, and at the 7^th in 2012. Finally, they qualified for the playoffs in 2013 but failed to go past the 3^rd position.

2014 was another disappointing year for the Rajasthani fans as their team got eliminated once again in the group stage. They went to the playoffs in 2015, but couldn’t go all the way. Afterward, the team got suspended in a spot-fixing case in the same year, alongside CSK. As a consequence, they did not play the 2016 and 2017 editions of the Indian Premier League.
